hi! I’m cowboyboo. Or at least that’s how I’ve identified myself online ever since that fateful day in 1999 when I went to sign up for AOL Instant Messenger and was sad to learn that “carrie” was already taken. There’s no great backstory, really. In college, I tended to call people “cowboy” a lot (as an alternative to “dude”, as in, “hey, cowboy!”). And some friends at the time called me “boo”. So, add them up, and that’s how my alliterative alter-ego came to be. It sort of stuck, and — shockingly — it’s always available whenever I need a user name, so it saves me from ever having to be “carrie45” or some such.
I did get an offer out of the blue once from someone who wanted to purchase the domain. That’s when I realized it’s an easy enough misspelling for people in the market for, say, cowboy boots.
I should warn you, though, that despite the name, I am not, by any stretch, a cowboy. Or a cowgirl, or even a cowpoke. I mean, I like horses as much as the next person, but I’m not what you’d call a “horse person.” I don’t listen to country music, or own any hats that could hold more than approximately one gallon. But I am the rootinest-tootinest contributor to this here lil’ corner of the wild west! So, saddle up!
